Welcome to your October News
Chairman's Note
Welcome to this month's newsletter. Soon the clocks change and we will be in the season of no daylight after-work, traditionally it can be a difficult time of year and with the extra stresses and strains of COVID-19 it could be even harder. Make sure you are looking after your personal wellbeing and that of your family and colleagues. As we continue to support the wellbeing of you, our members, we have organised some wellbeing webinars focused on this, to help you through the winter months (S.A.D).
Last week I had the pleasure of being part of the virtual judging panel for this year's UKISUG Photography Competition and we had some amazing entries - keep your eye out for the winners appearing in our 2022 calendar.
Our annual conference UKISUG Connect is rapidly approaching and we have a few speaker slots available! We are always looking for customer speakers as our members want to hear their peers' stories. Remember customer speakers at UKISUG Connect receive a free pass including accommodation for the event. Visit the speaker portal to get started. Our volunteer Special Interest Group Chairs will, over the coming months, be starting to look at the 2022 programme. Please engage with them directly or via SAP Jam on topics you would like to see us cover next year and even better let us know if you have a story to share!
There are now only five weeks left before our annual conference, UKISUG Connect, in Birmingham. We have recently launched the programme with more sessions being added every week, so please keep an eye on the website, and your inbox, for details. If you haven't booked yet, now is the perfect time to do so. I am looking forward to welcoming everyone to the event once again at the end of November.
Stay safe and keep washing your hands!

5 Information Management Best Practices for the Secure Retention of Data and Documents
Organisations are experiencing an exponential growth of data and need an information management plan to manage this valuable asset. Use the following best practices to keep information safe and secure, comply with data privacy regulations, and enable a faster transition onto SAP S/4HANA.
1. Archive Information Regularly Archive information regularly to retain information efficiently and cost effectively. Automate the process to ensure it is done consistently and without error and adjust the data residency period according to the type of data retained.
2. Use Cost Effective Storage Archived information is not accessed as frequently as production data. Cloud storage is an economical and infinitely scalable way to store data that needs to be retained for long periods of time.
3. Decommission Your Legacy Systems Legacy systems are costly to maintain and risky to operate. Archive the information that resides in these systems and move it into a central archive repository, where it can be stored securely to meet long term audit requirements.
4. Automate Retention Rules To comply with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, use software solutions that will apply retention rules as soon as data is created or captured and then alert staff when it should be disposed.
5. Improve Access to Information for Reporting or Audits Consider investing in solutions that will allow users to access archived information quickly, using familiar tools to simplify the process of responding to tax reporting, privacy audits, and other queries. Such solutions will free up business users for more valuable tasks.

Our Chief Executive, Craig Dale, spoke with ERP Today earlier this week about our forthcoming conference UKISUG Connect. Watch the interview at https://erp.today/erp-today-live-with-ukisug/ and get a sneak peek of what we have in store for you. Not Joining Us at Connect? Have Your Say If you can’t make it to our comeback conference in November we’d love to know why. We always appreciate feedback and aim to ensure we give everybody the opportunity to join us in the future, so whether it's travel concerns or a busy diary we’d love to know how we can help you join us next year! There’s still time for you to speak at Connect We are still looking for members to share their experiences in: Analytics Customer Experience Payroll As a thank you for sharing your story you will receive a complimentary 3-day conference pass with accommodation included and a preferential rate for the rest of your organisation to attend.
Speakers will not hold back on the good and bad or the challenging and empowering experiences they have had with their SAP systems. If you have any queries around presenting or would like to find out more email Robyn.Brentley@sapusers.org
Usability Testing Normally taking place at UKISUG Connect content, this year we invite you to review topics and register to participate in Usability Testing sessions that take place the week after Connect 2021. These are not demos; they are one-on-one, 60 minute sessions that allow you to provide feedback on the products you use, or will be using in the future, directly to the development teams that build them. Reserve your preferred topic, date and time here.
Our chosen charity for UKISUG Connect 2021 is Anthony Nolan.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
This year, to make donating easier for our members, we have set up a just giving page. This means you can donate however and wherever you like, whether you are attending the conference or not. Both UKISUG and Anthony Nolan appreciate your support.
