Working with SAP UK & Ireland

Published on

Some of you may have seen the recent news that Michiel Verhoeven, will be leaving his role as Managing Director, SAP UK & Ireland. At UKISUG we have enjoyed a great collaborative relationship with Michiel over the last two and a half years, so we are sad to see his departure. Michiel has been supportive of the whole UKISUG community, no more so than during the pandemic, which was a challenging time for many of us.

We also welcomed his strong focus on customer success. Through our joint trust workshops, we have fostered greater transparency and a valuable two-way dialogue between SAP and its customers. None of this would have been possible without Michiel’s cooperation and the support he has given to Mandy Bentley, our dedicated User Group liaison at SAP UK & Ireland.

Many customers are at an important juncture in their SAP lifecycle, with our most recent member survey revealing that almost 9 in 10 organisations are either using or planning to use SAP S/4HANA.At the same time, 92% of organisations are concerned that a lack of available skills will slow down their migration. Against this backdrop it is vital that the whole SAP community continues to work collaboratively together – so we look forward to continuing this momentum with Michiel’s successor at SAP UK & Ireland.

Rohit Nagarajan, President EMEA North at SAP, says: “The UK & Ireland continues to be one of our largest markets units. As we head into 2023, we’re seeing a sizeable appetite from partners and customers who are continuing to place digital transformation at the heart of their growth plans, and recognise SAP as the strategic partner to achieving this.

“Michiel has been integral to the continued success of SAP in the UK & Ireland, and leaves with our best wishes. He can look back on his time with SAP UKI with great success and has been a central figure to ensuring SAP invests over €¼ billion in the region in the next three years. Ian Wahlers will work closely with Michiel as we continue the thorough process to identify his successor in the upcoming weeks.”
