SAP Users Discuss Trends in Big Data and Analytics

To start the day, Timo Elliott, an Innovation Evangelist at SAP spoke to attendees on the The Big Trends in Big Data and Analytics. In Timos presentation, he discussed why analytics should no longer be an afterthought to operational systems, but should instead become the future foundation of organisations. Timo gave concrete, practical examples of some businesses who are already turning their big data into business innovation.

Our second speaker, Andy Steer, CTO at itelligence UK, gave a presentation based on getting the most out of BusinessObjects. Andys presentation, How BusinessObjects powered analytics can help you take your share of the 53 billion UK data dividend, looked at a recent IDC study which identified a global four-year data dividend in excess of $1.5 trillion. Andy went on to explain the data dividend further and what techniques and strategies businesses can implement that will see them realise their own benefits.

Following the keynote presentations, there were four interactive streams at the symposium for attendees to choose from, including Business Intelligence, Data Visualisation and Reporting, Big Data and EPM & SAP Support. One of the attendees, David Blowers from PWC, commented, There was a good mix of keynotes and targeted sessions. Having suppliers at the event was also helpful so we could see some of the options available. An enjoyable and informative event congratulations to UKISUG.

Others that attended on the day were similarly positive about their experience, with Mark Snell from Xerox complimenting the symposium as, A well organised and well planned event, delivered to a high standard at an excellent venue. Finally, Simon Williams from Kimberley-Clark Europe said that the day was, Well organised, provided useful insights into BI and analytics from a variety of perspectives, and gave useful information regarding the SAP product roadmap.
