SAPs Cloud Journey Continues What Does it Mean for Users?

Published on

Further driving customers to use S/4 HANA, is last weeks announcement that SAP customers can try the latest version of S/4HANA Business Suite in a free, 30-day on-premise trial. Through the trial, users will be able to demo typical installation scenarios and see examples of the kind of real-life insights it can provide. Ultimately if customers are I are happy with it, they can then look to deploy on all landscapes (on premise, cloud or hybrid).

SAP also continues to add to its cloud proposition, recently announcing that it would be integrating Solace Systems messaging router technology into SAP HANA. The central reason behind this is that Solaces technology will enhance the existing SAP HANA Cloud Integration service, helping SAP users to get even more out of the cloud.

While cloud has the potential to make businesses more efficient, productive and dynamic, our view is that a move to cloud must be taken at the right speed for an individual business. Many organisations, while keen to adopt cloud, struggle to carry out complex migrations. Indeed, when we asked SAP users earlier this year what their views on S/4 HANA. In all, 72% of respondents stated that they didnt know if S/4 HANA would help them "run simpler".

As a result, for any business considering a move to cloud, we advise taking the time it needs and exploring all help and resources available, to make sure they are comfortable with the business case. So, this new offering of a free trial of S/4 HANA certainly could be a good way for businesses to dip their toe in the water before making the move.

As ever, here at the User Group, well be working closely with SAP to ensure that users have access to all the help and knowledge they need. Well also have a dedicated S/4 HANA conference stream at this years User Group conference, SPECTRUM: Connected.
