SAP Doubles Up on Cloud and HANA

Indeed, it was recently reported in reported in Computer Weekly, that the last financial year saw SAP’s cloud revenues nearly double to €2.3bn, which represents 11% of its overall revenue of €20.8bn. At the same time, with the continued focus on S/4 HANA following its cloud launch last February, SAP announced that it has also doubled customer numbers using the platform. Cloud Pro report reports that more than 2,700 organisations now use S/4 HANA, which is an increase of 1,300 in October 2015.

Cormac Watters, managing director UK and Ireland at SAP, commented specifically about the UK market and the demand for cloud, “Cloud adoption is soaring here in the UK market, every customer wants to have the conversation”. Overall, SAP predict that its cloud revenue will exceed that from on-premise revenue by 2018. Here at the User Group, we’re well aware of the huge interest from SAP users in cloud and S/4 HANA. Indeed, demystifying S/4 HANA was at the top of agenda during our annual UK&I User Group conference in 2015. And from our conversations with User Group members, it’s clear that while many of them are excited about the possibilities that cloud and S/4 HANA present, they also have many questions on how to make these technologies work for them.

Cloud and S/4 HANA have the potential to help SAP users make their operations more efficient and dynamic, but each business will embrace these technologies at a different pace. Many businesses also need help and advice on creating a business case and a roadmap for a migration to cloud, or adopting S/4 HANA. For this reason, both cloud and S/4 HANA will be important topics throughout the year at our User Group events, designed to help and inform our Users to make the best business decisions for them.
