Making the most of Big Data analytics

Published on

Businesses are clamouring to utilise Big Data, and transform their organisations for the digital age. A recent IDC report on Big Data, predicts revenues will grow 12.4% to over $150 billion this year.

Last week, UKISUG and itelligence UK hosted an event on Big Data, in order to help users understand how to exploit data of all types, allowing them to improve decision making within their organisation. It was clear throughout the event that, for SAP users looking to adopt Big Data technologies, the most important aspect is to take a measured approach.

It’s vital that when looking at a Big Data setup, SAP users identify the core requirements for both the IT team and the business, ensuring that the organisation’s needs are planned for effectively.

Once this is done it’s about looking into the solutions that will help organisations realise better value from their data, such as SAP BusinessObjects. To this end, the User Group is hosting its Business Intelligence SIG in September, giving users the opportunity to discuss Big Data best practice with SAP BusinessObjects product experts, network, and collaborate with peers.

Last year, SAP also published a CEO Guide on using the SAP HANA Platform for Big Data. And with products such as BW/4 HANA and S/4 HANA gaining traction there are even more opportunities to leverage their data. The User Group regularly hosts workshops on deploying S/4 HANA, with the next event taking place in September.

And of course, Big Data and HANA will again be a big focus at this year’s conference – keep an eye on our LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter pages for more details in the coming months!
