​SAP Leonardo Live roundup – helping users on the way to the IoT

Recently, SAP users from across the world gathered in Frankfurt, Germany to attend SAP Leonardo Live, where attendees were given the opportunity to find out about the latest developments with SAP’s new digital innovation platform.

SAP kicked off the event by announcing the launch of a number of new tools for Leonardo platform, including a number of improved IoT capabilities. Including the IoT command centre, SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge; global track and trace capabilities, and an IoT cloud platform, SAP Leonardo IoT Edge. The company also unveiled SAP Digital Manufacturing Insights, a cloud-based performance management tool designed for manufacturers.

Leonardo Live also saw a range of partners discussing real-world applications for the product. Accenture Chief Analytics Officer, Narendra Mulani, explained the importance of leveraging agile data analytics in order to drive business value. Additionally, Deloitte’s chief Leonardo officer, Darwin Deano, explained how the software’s IoT, machine learning and analytics capabilities, were instrumental to building Deloitte’s own transformation solution – the Deloitte Reimagine platform.

A host of journalists attended the event; diginomica argued that in order for Leonardo to be a success, SAP needs to demonstrate to users it understands customer needs, and align its transformation technology accordingly. TechCrunch, on the other hand, praised Leonardo’s new IoT Bridge capabilities – claiming that SAP has found a ‘sweet spot’ in the market, as organisations can bridge the gap between incoming IoT data and internal business systems.
