Ensuring Greater SAP Security and Compliance

Published on

In an increasingly connected world, security has never been more important. Verizon’s 2017 DBIR report showed that more breaches are occurring than ever before, with 1,945 confirmed breaches recorded. As such, organisations need to consider how to secure every aspect of a business. However, according to a recent survey of SAP users, 73% said they find it a challenge to balance workforce productivity and flexibility against ensuring their SAP landscape is secure and compliant.

This will be all the more important as regulations such as GDPR come into play next year; currently, the vast majority (86%) of SAP users claimed they need more clarity on how GDPR will apply to their SAP systems. In fact, our survey also revealed that just over half (51%) of users said they had greater concerns around the compliance of their SAP landscape than they did 12 months ago.

In order to address these growing concerns, the User Group will be hosting an Audit Control and Security SIG this month, along with experts from Turnkey Consulting and SAP customer Howdens Joinery. Chris Johnston, SAP’s EMEA VP for Governance, Risk and Compliance will also be presenting; sharing the latest product roadmap for SAP GRC.

Tom Venables and Matt Harwood, from Turnkey Consulting will be discussing how users can ensure their SAP environment remains secure. Tom will share some security best practice tips, and explain how HANA authorisation is critical to protecting user data, and why users need to be prepared. Matt will be explaining how S/4 HANA and SAP Fiori changes your security landscape, and what needs to be done to ensure that systems remain secure.

From the user perspective, Howdens Joinery’s BI Systems Manager, Trevor Cowden, will be discussing how the firm has securely implemented SAP; sharing his insights from the process and answering any questions from users.

The Audit Control and Security SIG will take place at 4pm on Tuesday the 12th of September at Howdens Joinery’s Watford headquarters. You can find out more about the event, and reserve your place here.
