On the road to compliance with SAP

Published on

As 2018 looms, GDPR is on the minds of everyone who handles data for a living, before it becomes law from 25th May 2018. There are many aspects to achieving GDPR compliance, and it’s important that users understand how the new data protection regulation will affect their use of SAP products.

Earlier this year in a survey of User Group members, a significant number (86%) stated that they didn’t fully understand the implications of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in relation to either their current SAP landscape, or their future use of SAP. And time is running out for those that aren’t looking into the regulation and how it affects their SAP landscape. The User Group is helping users navigate GDPR compliance, and will continue to offer advice and support up to and after the regulation has come into force.

At UKISUG CONNECT 2017, a number of SAP experts banded together to offer advice throughout the show. Turnkey Consulting sponsored the Audit, Control and Security stream at the conference, educating users through presentations, consultations and informal chats by their stand. During the stream, Paul Hammersley, Product Portfolio owner for Landscape solutions at EPI-USE Labs, discussed how GDPR will impact organisations running SAP solutions, Andy Steer from itelligence explained the key challenges that GDPR brings to SAP customers, while John Hermans of CSI Tools described how concept design is critical for GDPR success.

Additionally, on 6th December, the User Group hosted a webinar on how to ‘plug the GDPR gap’, which focused on implementing a real-time monitoring solution within your SAP and Active Directory environments to detect unusual activity, potential breaches, and inappropriate access of your sensitive personal data and HR/HCM data.
